Prime Minister Ramush Haraidna has said that the recent decision to raise the salaries of teachers is a decision that seriously challenges budgetary capacities, but adds that the decision, however, received broad support.
He says it is injustice to children who are denied children's right to education after that decision.
The prime minister adds that this is no time of shopping, but it is time to raise quality in education”.
Here's Haradinaj's full writing:
The Government's decision to raise salaries for education workers came after a serious budget review process by the country's Government and was finalised with full reconciliation of all political parties in the parliamentary commission for public administration, local governance and the media.
It is a decision, seriously challenging budgetary capacity, but considering the importance of education for all, received broad support.
It is unfair and not ethical that our children's right to education may be denied after this decision, and let alone complain of any educational worker for low wages.
It's not shopping time, but it's time to focus on raising quality in education. Pay increases are dignified and rational expectations are that even reflection is dignified. Don't punish our children. Dear educational workers, you have respected wages!
