Global warming could change the ratio of male and female newborns. Scientists say there will be more boys born in countries where temperatures grow and less born in countries with other environmental changes.
The study, published in Fertility and Steriliy magazine, observed babies born in Japan and noticed a link between temperature changes and a change in the male-woman's report to the east.
In another study relating to the first one, researcher Samuli Helle also found that <x0-meteperatures of warmth bring boys” to Finland. It sums up its findings with this report: for any temperature increase of 1.8 degrees Celsius, there has been a 0.06 per cent increase in the report of newborn boys compared to girls. Using these numbers, he says that annual growth of -14 degrees Celsius would be translated into a ratio of 0.18 percent higher than male-daughters.
Helle also says events caused by global warming can affect the report SexEven though the ladder wouldn't necessarily be global.
Remember, however, that researchers say that any potential effect on the infant gender ratio will not be permanent, as climate may change periodically and unexpectedly. We'll need more research before we know for sure if global warming plays a direct role in the child's gender.
