A recent research conducted at the Royal College in London, where 545 pregnant women were examined, showed that one in four women suffered from a mental illness during pregnancy.
The pregnant women were asked questions during examinations, as they were asked about their moods and were given to complete 10 sentences about their mental state. It has been shown that one in four women faces a mental illness or disorder during pregnancy.
Eleven percent of them were depressed, 15% were anxious, 2% had nutrition disorders, while 2% of pregnant women suffered from obesity-compulsive disorder. Many also had a combination of some mental illnesses.
Scientists believe that these diseases in pregnant women have passed unnoticed so far because of the general belief that women feel amazing and full of life until they await the birth of their child.
“pregnant is a period of many changes”, says psychologist Dr. Camille Rosan from the mental health organization. “Women during pregnancy wonder about their identity, what mothers will be, but sometimes trauma from their own childhood. These are potential causes of mental illness display”, the psychologist adds.
Mental illness can affect a child's development, so it is necessary to get acquainted in time and give women adequate help so that they do not suffer in silence and are not pressured during pregnancy.
