Environmental Protection Agency is remembered in four days to react to the murder of wild cat in Ferizaj

The Agency for Protection of the Environment of Kosovo after four days has reacted to the murder of wild cats in the Ferizaj region.

Wild cats are strictly protected, and hunting is prohibited by law in power

The Institute for the Protection of Kosovo's Nature with concern has received news of the murder of a wild cat (Felis Sylvestris), in the Ferizaj region, which participated in the list of strictly protected local wild species. Initially, this wild cat was wrongly identified as the Rux Lynx Balkanicus.

Shortly after obtaining information, the Institute for Nature Protection, together with the MMPH Inspectorate, are committed to taking appropriate measures under legislation in force. But in advance, the Kosovo Forest Agency, based on the competencies it has based on the Law on Hunting, has announced the Kosovo Police, which in co-operation with the Prosecution are taking the case into account.

In this case, it should be mentioned and clarified that the same thing as the wild cat is a strict, protected species, and its hunting is strictly prohibited by law in power, and the legislation also provides fine sentences and imprisonment for anyone who hunts these endangered or rare species of animals.

The Institute for the Protection of Kosovo's Nature called on all Kosovo citizens to report any suspicious hunting activities against rare and protected species by law.

From Persistent Wildlife Monitoring IKMN through surveillance cameras and ground data has ascertained the presence of wild cat species in some habitats on Kosovo's territory and its situation is good.
