Venezuela's opposition leader, Juan Guaido, says he has held secret meetings with the army in order to gain support for the collapse of President Nicolas Maduro.
Guaido became acting president earlier this month and was immediately recognised by the United States and several Latin American countries.
Great powers Russia and China support Maduron, while military support is seen as crucial to keeping him in power.
As far as the crisis in Venezuela came after Maduro began his second term after controversial events. Many opposition candidates were prevented from running or being imprisoned.
About three million people have left Venezuela after economic problems and there has been an increase in violence in recent weeks.
