Despite the additional deadline for completion of the Dhaerba Xhaferiı, the Turkish-American consortium Bechtel-Enka, has failed to complete the last segment of the highway, which was meant to be completed on 31 December 2018.
This delay of the consortium, the Ministry of Infrastructure argued, where in responses given to life in Kosovo, they have not blamed the consortium of themselves, saying this delay has occurred because of climate conditions, even though no official announcement has yet been made.
The last additional amendment that we agreed to was December 31, 2018. All jobs related to the bridge's six-mile connection to the highway rail have been completed, since it has been said unofficially (and we are also awaiting official report) the isolation of the bridge and its asphalt cannot happen at these temperatures what are ruling these days of the winter season”, the answers to the office to inform this ministry are said.
Even in regard to these delays, the ministry said we would act on the contract and also on how official reasonings from the company, from their entity, will be presented, but also from the watchdog that is Hill International.
The “Masses will be reciprocal, if confirmed, there has been a possibility that recent jobs in this project” will be done, in response.
The newspaper Life in Kosovo has also asked for clarifications on the 53m debt payment to Bechtel . Enka, where the ministry says the payment will be completed this year.
The 53m euros the Government of Kosovo has made the decision, which the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has been authorised to carry out the payment, will be completed in June of this year, when there is the last deadline for settling this contractual obligation, unfortunately caused by the neglect of the former government”.
The newspaper Life in Kosovo has also asked questions at the Bechtel Enka consortium, but has not received answers to the issue.
The division of 53 million has sparked major debate in Kosovo.
The newspaper Life in Kosovo had written about the way these money is shared and who was responsible for this “damage<x1 economic>.
The document, discovered by the newspaper Life in Kosovo, says that annexes-contact, which owes the government an additional 53m euros, has been signed just 18 days after the government's coming to power, namely by Minister Paul Lekaj.
However, the Haradinaj government, in its reasoning, said the damage was done by the preliminary governments, and the latter have been forced to make that decision.
The initial contract, worth 600m euros, was signed in 2014 by the incumbent Minister of Infrastructure, Fehmi Mujota.
