A 27-year-old Albanian has been arrested in Egio, Ayaya, Greece, after a total of 53kg of narcotics, suspected as sativa cannabis, was found in his vehicle.
According to the Greek police press communiqué, the 27-year-old was travelling with his Greek license plates to the axis connecting Janina and Patra, at the time a police patrol signaled to stop because, for the vehicle he was travelling to, there was reportedly a drug shipment with Athens' destination.
But the 27-year-old, whose name does not become public, refused to stop and left in the direction of Patras.
Immediately the chase began, and police were able to stop the traffickers about 120km away in the escape of the highway to Egypt, as measures had previously been taken to completely close the highway that connects Patra and Athens.
From the verification, it turned out that the 27-year-old was part of an Albanian drug trafficking organisation.
He had charged narcotics to the border area between Albania and Greece in Delvinhaki. The 27-year-old will be sent to the Court for Security Measure, while narcotics and his vehicle were seized.
