Ahmeti has called this historic moment for Macedonia, and said he believes citizens will respond to this moment with greater calm.
DUI's leader, in front of the media, said he expects citizens to decide their future through this referendum.
This is a historic moment for our country and I believe that this important moment with the greatest calm citizens will respond. Of course, their right is to express their beliefs, both for [life] and against. So far from all the information we possess the process is going smoothly, and I expect citizens to decide in this referendum on their future”, he said.
Ahmeti said everyone has committed that after 1 October Macedonia will be close to European Union countries.
“We are all committed since 1 October Macedonia to be close to the countries where we aspire, to the European Union. Of course, a lot of effort has been given, not only by political parties, but all of a voice has now been the last 15 years in particular for our country to be a worthy member of the European Union, but also part of the NATO Alliance. Thus, we rightly expect Macedonia to realise its historic goals, to install a lasting peace of security for all citizens of the Republic of Macedonia, investment, economic development, to work without stopping towards rule of law and institutions, whether of the state administration or stability, peace, not only for us but for the entire region of Southeast Europe, as a peninsula that truly deserves the country, near the European Union, near NATO-S”, he said.
Ali Ahmeti voted in the school “Rexhe Rushit Zajazi” in the village of Zajaz at 8:16.
There are 696 people in this fair voting center. By noon, about 10 percent have used the right to vote at this center.
