Brazil and Real Madrid's sideguard, Marcelo, has been sentenced to four months in prison on parole, and has been fined 750 thousand euros because of tax fraud, which was charged in Spain, reports El Mundo.
The 30-year-old will not spend time in prison, since laws in Spain say a sentence of less than two years in prison could be passed on parole. After Marcelo has been sentenced to only four months, this law allows him to be released from prison.
Brazil thus enters the long line of persons involved in Spanish football who have been convicted and fined for tax fraud. Part of this list is Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Jose Mourinho.
Marcelo also appeared in court today, where he was found guilty of tax fraud during 2011 and 2013. After he went to the court hearing, he managed to reduce prison sentences on parole, as well as cut the fine amount.
