Kosovo threatened by political stalemate

The position and opposition must put the differences between them aside, and through discussions to create consensus on national topics on the contrary, the Parliament will face political stalemates, the legislature's work connoisseurs assess. Life Krasniqi from the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI), in a proposal for the Online Economy, commenting on the failure to conclude two extraordinary sessions held last week, said opening a newly launched session is not effective.
“What we've seen in the past weeks is that two extraordinary sessions have been called later on the opportunity to vote proposals from both sides on the one side of the opposition and then even from the position the chairmanship meeting has been called to agree on how to proceed and have remained in half the two sessions in fact it is not recommended that new sessions be opened without the end of past”, Krasniqi said.
The following week, Kosovo MPs have failed to complete two extraordinary sessions.
One called by the opposition in which a resolution to prevent President Hashim Thaci from discussing Kosovo's borders and territory in dialogue with Serbia would be proposed.
The other, called by the ruling coalition to form the negotiating team for talks in Brussels, the delegation, which would be led by Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Limaj.
However, according to Krasniqi, political parties urgently need to sit down and agree to Kosovo's position regarding the latest phase of talks with Serbia.
“This situation actually shows that the need of political parties to sit down and discuss and build a political consensus on Kosovo- Serbia and is more than necessary for daily divisions or even daily policies to be put aside in the state process”, she said.
“... the country's institutions and political parties should definitely sit down to discuss and build the Kosovo state's position in talks with Serbia and then translate into a resolution that will then be voted in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo”.
Do not conclude the two extraordinary sessions, for Arton Demhay from the organisation “Arise”, is entering a political stalemate, which can only be overcome through the creation of consensus or in case of its failure with early elections.
I think that the political factor should sit together and try to find compromises on certain national topics so that the assembly will not be blocked and move on while for policies certain for certain” laws.
“This is the possibility that by passing this deadlock of the Kosovo assembly or the last if it can't get through, then the last chance is to go to extraordinary elections”, he said.
Demhaya is also skeptical of the start of the annual session of the Parliament's work. He told EO that the work of the Assembly could again be blocked by lack of quorum or even enough votes for the adoption of specific bills.
