He has written on Facebook that the referendum, held on 26-30 September 1991, which has legitimised the Constitutional Declaration of July 2nd 1990, remains among the most important events in the construction of the state of Kosovo.

This plebistic move confirmed the will of Kosovo citizens of Freedom, Independence and Democracy. This act eventually legitimized our pro-Western alignment. Today, after all these sacrifices, it is trying to review this will of citizens for independent Kosovo in its territorial whole. The non-religious actions of institution carriers have fluctuated our reports with friendly countries, which are justly opposing these kind of adventures. Democratic institutions are trying to bypass the democratic institutions to carry out harmful projects against the state of Kosovo, thus violating the will of majority citizens expressed in the referendum before 27 years”, Hoti wrote.
According to him, both then and now, the LDK will protect the will of Kosovo citizens.
