Gashi's reaction to the media has said it is unacceptable that after so much effort, suffering sacrifices to internationalise Kosovo's sport, and especially football, today there is a tendency to question our membership in FIFA's UEFA, due to claims to broadcast the UEFA Champions League in Kosovo through Radio Television of Serbia.
Kosovo is equal in UEFA and FIFA, and for that we are largely indebted to our Sports League, Fadil Vokrrit. It is an insult to him and to all those who have given and sacrificed so much to experience emotions like those we had at the premiere Kosovo match Faroe Islands. If such a step is allowed, it can essentially contest our equality with other states in UEFA and FIFA. Kosovo is an independent and sovereign state and Serbia can never have any competence over Kosovo, neither for sport nor for anything else”, it says in its response.
On the other hand, he has written that as sports minister, he expects all responsible institutions to carry out their duties to ensure the independence of Kosovo's sports, whether in green fields or on our television screens.
“Just as Serbia can no longer host football matches on Kosovo territory, cannot even receive rights for television broadcasts in Kosovo, because otherwise it would be a violation of the territorial integrity of our state”, his response concludes. /Periscopi
