AKR's deputy chairman Agim Bahtiri has come up against the idea of his boss Behgjet Pacolli, who has demanded that Albania be included in the dialogue with Kosovo.
Mr. Behgjet Pacolli, who has asked Albania to be a party to the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue. This is a permanent claim by Serbia, which has sought to bypass Kosovo and solve the process with Albania, damaging and de-financed Kosovo institutions. No state can speak on behalf of Kosovo, not even Albania, because Kosovo is an independent and sovereign state. The Republic of Kosovo has its own constitutional institutions, the Parliament, Government and Presidency, which represent and make decisions for our state”, wrote Bahtiri on Facebook.
By contrast, Kosovo Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli, during his meeting with counterpart from Albania, Ditmir Bushati, has also talked about the final phase of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
Pacolli has asked Albania not to sit back in the dialogue process. He has said that if the European Union and the United States may be present in dialogue, why not Albania?
Kosovo Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli has hosted his Albanian counterpart, Ditmir Bushati, today, where he has been discussing the final phase of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
“I requested that Albania be not partial to this process but be an integral part of our goal. Our goal is dialogue with Serbia. Albania be there. If the EU can be present and the US why not Albania?”, Pacolli said, writes Periscopi.
However, yesterday Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has indicated that Albania will not be included in dialogue, as according to him, the decision on the final agreement with Serbia will be of Kosovo institutions.
“We are sovereign countries and decision-making belongs to Pristina at the end. Like we who are not involved in their dispute over the sea deal with Greece. I highly appreciate Wessel's visit to Tirana, but if not, decision-making regarding the agreement belongs to Kosovo institutions. Any tendency for political confusion will be rejected”, President Thaci said yesterday during the media conference. /Periscopi/
