Serbs' exits from KSF do not stop

The number of Serb members who have submitted requests to leave the Kosovo Security Force (FSK) has reached fifty-one. Their departure resulted in threats and pressures from Belgrade. Some have even been attacked, detained during the border crossing in Serbia, as well as threatened with a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, due to their participation in “the foreign armed reforms”.
Kosovo Security Force Minister (FSK) Rrustem Berisha, in an interview for Online Economy, said they could not afford outside pressures and have decided against their will to give up their professional career.
“Based on the data we have, so far 51 members have applied for the cutout, and most of the reasons are the pressures from abroad that haven't been able to afford, and it's a pity that they haven't, we understand the situation. This is a battle only those who stay one minute longer” win.
Berisha estimates that even internationals should play their role in preventing outside pressure on members of the KSF to abandon this force.
He announced that Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has been addressed with a letter to all ambassadors of states who have recognised Kosovo and NATO.
Berisha said further that the KSF and other institutions are committed to showing support to non-party communities, in this case to Serb KSF members.
I think the international factor should have its role too, because it is not just our goal but also ours NATO and our partners to build a multiethnic security force”.
“Of course their impact will be very useful in preventing external pressures. We will be close and help Serbian members face this pressure and make a fair decision for their future”.
Berisha added that none of the reasons given in the resignation requirements have anything to do with any pressure within the KSF.
When we've analyzed all of those demands that have been directed to cut the contract or to evacuate the KSF, no reasoning has come due to any pressure within the KSF and that made us proud to have been created and that the KSF is home to all its citizens”.
The KSF ministry has not yet made any decisions about the demands of Serb members for evacuation, as they are being reviewed according to previous procedures, which require 6 months of time.
But when the evacuation procedures are completed, the ministry plans to open competitions for meeting the remaining empty positions, and according to the minister, there is tremendous interest of Serbs to join the KSF, EO reports.
The “moment the application procedure is complete, the competition for the fulfillment of free countries from the Serb community will also open, has tremendous interest to key. The KSF is a force of entry and exit, if one is to cut the contract and wants back, must start over and it is a problem”.
