An international conference in which the solution to the Kosovo issue would be reached could be the only way out of the situation Serbia and Kosovo have faced after more than seven years of European Union-brokered negotiations, writes Belgrade's “ovost” today.
According to this medium, Koha.net broadcasts, since in Brussels' dialogue on the horizon no epilogue acceptable to both sides could be lowered to the negotiating table, so that this process can be concluded by agreement.
Serbian Government Minister Rasim Lajic, who had proposed international conferences for years, has told the paper that even further thinks this meeting of the world's most important countries is needed in the final phase for resolving the Kosovo issue.
The “before this meeting is necessary balanced pressure from the EU and the US, which has so far focused mainly on Belgrade. Pristina's lack of political will requires another approach of the international community, which should send a clear message that there can be no permanent and lasting solution if one side wins all the other side. I think the Sui Geners solution can be found at a “Dayhond2” conference, Lajiq said.
The idea of the international conference for Kosovo has been presented since 2011, and Dragolub Mitchunovic's professor, (DS), conveys Koha.net, thinking that it is the only solution to the Kosovo problem.
According to him, Serbs and Albanians should be represented at such a meeting, as well as members of the UN Security Council and who must stay behind the agreement reached.
Aleksandar Gajic from the Institute for European Studies says that in the format where the EU is a mediator in dialogue, it is clear that no final solution will be reached, while looking into the long-term plan, it is possible to bring this issue back under UN auspices.
“No international conference to be ruled out that would be held under Resolution 1244, which the UN Security Council would initiate and in which permanent members of this body would participate. The US and other sponsors of Kosovo's independence would initially be opposed to this framework, but if it is observed that with EU mediation there are no results, and, if the temporary suspension of negotiations occurs, which is not real, this initiative would show the only way out of”, Gajic has said.
