Three former senior European diplomats wrote Moghrin: Change of Borders to Reject Immediately

In an open letter to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Policy and Security Federica Moghrin, the three former European senior diplomats -- Calr Bildt, Paddy Ashdown and Christian Schwarz Scheling -- have raised alarms about the idea of exchanging territories, saying such a thing will deepen conflicts in the region [...]
They say EU statements, that they can support a possible agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, are disturbing, meanwhile, say a possible border change agreement could be misused by nationalist politicians.
“As the former senior representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, we are deeply concerned with the positions recently taken by senior European Union officials, where it says the EU may be willing to support an agreement between President Vuciq and Thaci, which includes and the exchange of territory between Serbia and Kosovo through border corrections.
We know the region well, to sense that border movement will not solve divisions, will deepen them. Although the Kosovo issue cannot be compared to the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we have sufficient knowledge of developments in the Western Balkans to conclude that this will be misused by nationalist politicians, further challenge borders and destabilise other countries in the region.
We know the EU and Europe enough to say that bloody history has taught us that lasting peace can come only when we are taught to live in very ethnic countries. Instead of revising the borders to create an ethnic state, we can say that we should not think of a policy that will most likely lead us back to dividing and fuelling conflict in the Balkans.
We suspect that it also risks disrupting unity, both in Macedonia and Bosnia. So we call for these proposals to be rejected as soon as possible”, says the letter.
Otherwise Ashdwon days ago in an interview for Dnevni Avaz has said touching borders leads to a new war in the Balkans.
