Prince Leka proposes joining Kosovo with Albania

The national Union would be ideal for Kosovo and Albania. In this opinion is Albanian Prince Leka II, who in an interview for the newspaper “Sunelli” has proposed that joining the two states under a monarch would bring positive things to the two countries. The prince points out that since the royal family returned from [...]
The prince stresses that since the royal family returned from their lives in exile, their task was to remove barriers between Albanians and promote the unification of Albanian minorities in the Balkans.
In addition, the new union the Prince proposes must have a monarch. The Crown Prince tells the paper that a Greater Albania, established as the constitutional monarch, will ensure greater political stability than the current political system. The prince uses the United Kingdom and other Western European monarchies as examples of what Albania can achieve in the future as a Western-oriented constitutional monarch.
In question of whether Prince Leka is willing to become king of a united Kosovo and Albania, the Prince replied:
The royal family will always respect the will of the people. Being a prince or a king is beautiful. Being able to serve my country is not viewed by me as a job, but the greatest honour “.
The Union of Albania and Kosovo is a political idea, revived since Kosovo declared independence in 2008. Kosovo is mainly Albanian, and with the Republic of Albania, it shares several joint administrative sectors, such as education and foreign policy.
Culture, heritage and trade have largely joined between the two, which also have an open border. Prince Leka is the only child of First Leka, the Prince of Albania.
On November 30th, 2011, he was declared Prince of the Republic of Albania after his father's death. Prince Leka has been an official in Albania's Interior Ministry and in the past has served as adviser to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Albanian Presidency.
