The Muslim couple [who may be of Kosovo origin] refuse to give the hands to the Swiss and lose citizenship

The town of Lausanne has denied Switzerland's citizenship to a Muslim couple after they refused to give hand to members of the opposite sex, reports Guardian, writes Periscope.

The municipality in question said it rejected the couple's citizenship because of the disrespect they showed towards gender equality.

Mayor Gregore Junod has said that a municipal commission has tested the couple for months to see whether they meet the criteria for citizenship or not, but decided to deny Friday because they seemed not integrated or could be integrated.

He refused to show the couple's nationality in question [meaning that they could be Albanian], or other identifying details, but said the “a had not given hand to the opposite sex people”.

They had also found it hard to answer questions when they brought a woman to a husband or a man to a wife.

Some devout Muslims argue that Islam does not allow physical contact with a member of the opposite sex unless it has family ties.

Junod said freedom of faith is permitted for each religion, but religious practices do not stay outside the law. /Periscopi
