Mazda has submitted a report to the Ministry of Earth, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of Japan with details of the results of the investigation during the final inspection of vehicles.
The company, however, has discovered traces that are related to situations in which the test cars deviate more than the allowed amount of predetermined speed as described on the test. These mistakes in trace speed have been discovered in 72 cases of a total of 1,472 cars that have been tested as part of this JC08 cycle.
After a detailed investigation, Mazda discovered two causes. The first refers to the fact that the system is not properly programmed to automatically cancel results containing a trace error. In addition, these testing procedures were not properly organised, as detection of deviations in trace speed became the responsibility of each individual inspector.
To avoid such situations in the future, Mazda has also improved the system to automatically reject unilateral speed tests, but will also increase the number of people at the top of analysis of data.
