Lumez confirms prosecutor Blakaj threatened to pursue Shefqet Krasniqi and veteran fraud

Special Prosecutor Elez Blakaj's resignation allegedly came after threats concerning his work. Chief State Prosecutor Alexander Lumez confirmed this. Blakaj threats allegedly occurred during the investigation of the veterans' inflated lists and in the case of pursuing imam, Shefet Krasniqi.

State Chief Prosecutor Aleksandar Lumezi has stated that the special prosecutor, now retired Elez Blakaj, has had state protection in cases where he has announced threats.

In the case of veterans, according to Lumez there has been a request by the prosecutor to provide the medical commission that has been held by the Ministry of Labour and Social Management, which according to him has been taken into account and police have offered protection.

Lumez told Insider that Blakaj had announced another threat case.

During the time he was investigating the imam, Shefqet Krasniqi, against whom an indictment for terrorism was filed, Blakaj had had been threatening his children.

In this case, Lumez says he himself had demanded that Kosovo police be offered protection to the prosecutor's children.

“When it was the case with Shefq Kranick's investigation, we gave him protection and provided him with the children every day we sent them to school and waited for them, so the Kosovo police did this after my request, after the prosecutor informed me that the children were gone. He himself has refused to have close protection regarding this case”, Lumez told Iseder.

Special Prosecutor Elez Blakaj has resigned from this institution on 13 August.

Lumez said prosecutor Blakaj was on leave when he announced his resignation.

The prosecutor has gone on leave, then has recognized the chief Special Prosecutor who is no longer the prosecutor, without giving any further explanation for the reasons for his resignation”, Lumez said.

Otherwise, Elez Blakaj, who was recently investigating manipulations with the KLA veterans' lists, had as a special prosecutor attended some of the best-known cases associated with terrorism.

He had filed charges against the controversial imam Shefqet Krasniqi, and groups of different radical individuals.

Blakaj, a few years ago, accused himself of recruiting terrorists and former gynenamine Zekiria Qazimi and his group. The same are convicted of these charges, with an all-powerful verdict, by the tribunal.

In addition to these cases Elez Blakaj has been one of the three prosecutors engaged in the investigation into the “Proto” relationship, against whose characters in April this year stood up in the indictment.

Elez Blakaj himself has not yet been declared for resignation.
