Kofi Annan, former United Nations Secretary General who won the Nobel Peace Prize for humanitarian work, has passed away at 80 years of age.
Anna was the first black African to take office, serving from 1997 to 2006.
He later served as the UN special envoy to Syria, trying to find a solution to the conflict.
Annan visited Albania in the difficult days of 1999.
On May 20, 1999, he was in Kukes, where he visited Kosovo refugee camps.
I've heard touching stories from Kosovars who have been expelled from their homes and are anxious”, he had said.
He had, however, praised the situation of the camps and the hospitality that was reserved for Kosovars.
This shows the mildness of the human soul,” he said.
