The company, Microsoft, has announced that several Russian attempts to carry out cyber attacks against conservative American groups have been hampered.
The software company has said Russian hackers have attempted to steal data from political organisations, including the International Republican Institute and the Hudson Institute.
But they have prevented the efforts when the security staff gained control on pages that have been imitating the original versions of the official pages.
According to Microsoft, the group, Fancy Bear, stands behind failed attempts to attack.
“We are concerned that these and other efforts pose a threat to security and to groups linked to American political parties competing in the 2018x1> elections, it has been said in a Microsoft statement in which details of their work have been provided.
The obstructed attack was intended to launch a fraudulent campaign through which individuals would visit fake Web sites and thus gain information from people who clicked on those links.
In addition to the two institutions mentioned, fraudulent addresses have been linked to several Senate offices and other services.
The New York Times reported that it is possible that the two targeted institutions have been mentioned because they have previously been supporters of President Trump, but are now opposed and have called for more sanctions against Russia.
