The clashes have started in Bucharest during protests by tens of thousands of Romanians living abroad who are not happy with the work of government.
The emergency service suggests that 65 of them were sent to the hospital.
The clashes began last night when several tens of thousands of protesters tried to break the police cord that was deployed around government facilities, writes the Associated Press.
Many have been arrested, while in some cases the water ball has been used at night.
As health services in Bucharest reveal among the injured, there are demonstrators and policemen who have been taking head injuries until others have been hurt by tear gas.
Romania's President Klaus Iohannis has condemned “the brutal invasion of the Police”, which he has called disproportional to protesters.
