Its latest design, IMX586, promises a major step in the quality of the image by dramatically increasing resolution to 48 megapixels effective (8000,5006000), which Sony says is counting [...]
The quality of the image is not simply a matter to trigger more megapiksels-it may be against productive with the smallest pixels leading to noisy photographs in low light.
The 0.5 microns used in this sensor will be the smallest on the market.
