Matteo Salvin will take another austerity measure to block the influx of illegal immigrants arriving daily from Africa to Italy.
The neighbouring country's interior minister, following the closure of Italian ports for ships of humanitarian organisations committed to search-for rescue operations in the Mediterranean, has also set port closures for international missions.
Salvin said on Sunday that Italy will seek at the EU interior ministers' summit closing ports to ships of all international missions currently operating in the Mediterranean.
The recent five-year Italian government has signed agreements with the European Union that allows all international missions to launch immigrants to Italy. But with the new government things will change. It is unacceptable that all international missions in the Mediterranean require the landing of immigrants at Italian ports”, Salvin said.
