Flying taxi will soon be a reality, as the British industrial group “Rols-Royce” presented its project to develop hybrid electric vehicles that rise and land vertically and can hit the road within five years. The company that has headquarters in Derby, in the center of England, first presented his project at the Aeronautics Hall in Farnborug, near London, while other industrialists are competing in the sector.
The aero-proliferation giant aims to produce a prototype of his flying taxi in the next 18 months, and may probably be put to work in the early 2020s.
This electric aircraft can carry up to four or five passengers at a maximum speed of 25 miles [232 km] an hour and a flight capacity of up to 805 miles [805 km].
We can view such a product in flight for three or five years and do a show of this system in two years”, says Rob Watson, in charge of the electricity sector at “Rols-Roy”.
This hybrid, which has so far cost millions of pounds to develop, will use a traditional gas turbine complete by an electrical system.
