Presidency Chief Bekim Colak has said that in the final agreement with Serbia there will be no amnesty for acts related to war crimes, genocide of crimes against humanity. He said that the amist will never have for the murders, tortures, and rapes that occurred during the war. He has said it is a pity that some people are misusing this subject for small political and personal benefits.
Bekim Colak, Chief of Staff at the Presidency, has issued a statement confirming that none of the war crimes, genocide crimes and crimes against humanity will be adopted with any agreement with Serbia.
This reaction by Colak comes after an answer to the presidency, days ago, where it said some criminal acts could be housed in the International Agreement that will be reached between Kosovo and Serbia.
For the sake of clarifying public opinion, but above all for the sake of truth and respect for those who lost loved ones, those who experienced the most cruel crimes during the war, let me explain something that everyone knows. There will never be amnesty for those who committed war crimes (kill, torture and rape) in Kosovo”, Colak said on Saturday.
It has called on those involved in the dialogue process to be cautious when talking about sensitive topics that are related to dialogue.
It's a pity that some, because of small political and personal battles, go so far with fiction on this subject, forgetting that thousands can hurt along the way. Kosovo respects all international conventions and international law. War crimes are sanctioned by international law, and Kosovo has its penal legislation harmonised in accordance with international conventions and laws. So there isn't and there can be no amnesty for war crimes”, he added for Express.
Even in this case, this presidency official has called on all political parties to become part of the dialogue as an opportunity to help the state of Kosovo.
“The opponents of dialogue, normalisation and reconciliation will not be able to find any issue they can use as an excuse to protect their personal or political causes. After all, this debate on this issue testifies to what we are constantly looking for. Dialogue is a matter of state interest, so come on in and take on the responsibility you owe. Only this way, you can help Kosovo”, he has added.
Colak has said the final phase of dialogue with Serbia will be conveyed with full transparency.
“Transparency, responsibility and accountability are three main principles during this final phase of dialogue for normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia”, he has added.
