Kosovo's economic freedom has received a positive assessment from Heritage Frontation, ranking better than some countries in the region and the EU. This is evidence of our orientation for free economics, taking the largest economies in the world as the US model. So said Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj after the meeting he held with representatives of the organisation “The Heritage Foundation”, led by James Carafano, vice president and leader of the Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy and Anthony Kim, the research manager and author of the publication “The Index of Economic Freedom”.
Prime Minister Haradinaj has informed Carafano and Kim of Kosovo's progress in doing business, the priorities of the Government of Kosovo, and commitment to sustainable economic development and the opening of new jobs.
Haradinaj, according to a government communique, has stressed the need for American investments in Kosovo, said their investments, in particular in mines and energy and not only with coal energy, but also in renewable energy, as well as in other sectors, would affect the country's economic development and increased citizens' welfare.
America's Special Economic Zone and investment from Contour Global are just some of what Government has undertaken to strengthen economic partnership with the United States and evidence of our commitment to create safe and suitable environments for foreign investors, in this case American investors”, has added Prime Minister Haradinaj.
Prime Minister Haradinaj said the government is committed to political and institutional stability, a better functioning of the judiciary, fighting crime and corruption, and improving infrastructure.
The Heritage Foundation is the conservative institution of research and education in Washington that designs and promotes public policies based on the principles of free market economy.
Kosovo's economic freedom has been estimated for the first time in the 2016 Index. In the world rankings for 2018, Kosovo ranks 56th with a total of 66.6 points.
