Hamilton said “I've been in the Mercedes family since 1998. I am always grateful for the support, love, and protection that have been offering me for years”.
“I am very proud of what we have achieved together and even very excited about the future”, he added.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff also wanted the 33-year-old to stay with the English team for five years.
Hamilton's new agreement will continue for another two years, until December 2020, with the possibility of continuing for another season./Periscopi/
