A draft of the National Citizens' census (NRC) was published on Monday, which includes only those who could prove to be in Assam before 1971, when millions of people left the Bangaldesh war.
Critics say the last move is being led by the right-wing government of India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is trying to advance the extent of his Hindu community.
More than 30 million have applied to include on the list, which only four million of them have been expelled, said Shailesh, India's Chief Secretary-General, said “DailyMail”, broadcast Periscopi.
No true citizen of India should be concerned about whether he is on NRC's final list”, he said.
The NRC's final list is scheduled to be completed in December of this year.
Hundreds of thousands of people had moved to India from Bangaldesh during 1971, when Bangladesh fought Pakistan.
The Group for Human Rights has criticised the recent movement of the Indian government, saying that the removal of citizens is similar to that of Myanmar's law that deprives Muslims of their citizenship rights in 1982./Periscopi/
