The prime minister's office, has announced that the milk protection decision will begin to apply immediately. The decision to implement the Trade and Industry Ministry's decision on temporary protection measures to import local trees and vegetables and import milk originating from Bosnia and Herzegovina has also been approved at the meeting. The decisions will begin to apply from the day of their approval by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo”, it is said in announcing the Office of the Prime Minister for Media.
Trade and Industry Minister Bajram Hasani has said that with the decision made by the Government of Kosovo, producers of the country will be protected.
The milk producers and growers of trees and vegetables will no longer be disturbed by unfair competition from import. Today, at the Kosovo Government meeting, green light was given for the two decisions on protective measures for milk imported from Bosnia and Herzegovina and for the trees and vegetables that enter Kosovo on Wednesday to be implemented by Kosovo Customs”, Bajrami has said.
He has assured local producers that we will protect these producers by law in any case. Dear citizens help Kosovo, assist local producers. Because giving priority to our products we help develop Kosovo's” economy, MTI Minister Bajram Hasani has said.
Meanwhile, milk and directors of milk associations have said the local milk industry is being endangered by imported milk, as they say it is often sold under market costs.
And the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) had announced on April 16th that the decision on milk protection is based on legal competencies in accordance with Article 1 and Article 1 of Article 2. 041/L-047, as well as relevant provisions of the CEFTA Agreement.
The decision has come after an investigation that has been found that import from Bosnia and Herzegovina has increased by 20 percent and impacted damage to local products in the fact that importation of milk products from Bosnia and Herzegovina is low-priced, which is under the cost of local milk products”, the MTI reported.
As envisioned in Article 8 of the US Protection Measures Law, there is sufficient basis for determining that import growth, as well as the conditions under which this import is carried out, threatens to cause, according to the MTI serious damage to local producers of similar products.
Defence measures under the MTI decision affect the thousands of producers and milk processing operating on the Kosovo market. This protective measure affects about 3 thousand farmers who have farms of between 5 and 250 cows and over 30 milk processing”, the MTI's announcement stressed.
