Chief Prime Minister Kadri Wessel today, along with a delegation, has headed for Vienna in Austria to lobby for the removal of visas for Kosovo citizens. Accompanied by MPs from parliamentary groups from office and opposition, it will be expected at a special meeting by Austria's Parliament Speaker Wolfgang Sobotka.
Representatives of political parties in the country do not believe this lobby will bring visas, and according to them even Kadri Wessel is not the person who deserved it.
Vetevendosje MP Ismajl Kurteshi for Periscopi has said Kosovo citizens deserve to have visas as soon as possible, but first corruption must be fought as the lobbie does not bring visas.
Like all citizens in Kosovo, we too are on visa-free as soon as possible. We've been against exchange of visa territory because citizens deserve visas without giving them 8 thousand and 200 hectares. But, of course, people who lead institutions have the obligation to work in the direction that visas be removed as soon as possible, if it depends on lobbies. Lobbim influences, but it would be much better for leaders to fight corruption - first than war - they themselves will not be corrupted. This would be the biggest aid to abolishing visas, says Kurteshi for Periscope.
According to him, lobeing cannot be done by people who themselves are corrupt, alluding to Kadri Wessel.
Without overcoming this serious challenge, the visas will hardly be removed. We hope that the citizens will have this obstacle removed. This may help but is not crucial and this cannot be done by those who are corrupt themselves, it is a problem, says Kurteshi.
Against this lobby has also come the Democratic League of Kosovo, saying they do not join Veselin's lobby tour.
The head of the party's Parliamentary Group, Avdullah Hoti, considers visa liberalisation is not secured through such actions.
” To contribute to meeting the criteria for visa liberalisation, the Speaker of the Assembly must ensure the management of the Kosovo Assembly's affairs to approve laws that are related to the SAA and specifically to the European Reforms Agency. As chairman of the party in the coalition, the Speaker of the Parliament should see to it that the Government fulfils its obligations towards the agenda for Kosovo's European integration”, Hoti has added.
On this official visit to Austria, Chief Prime Minister Wessel will be accompanied by a representative of each Parliamentary Group: Glauk Konjufca, Aida Drdguti, Teuta Rugova, Evgeni Thaci Dragusha, Time Kadrij, Adem Hodza and Fikrim Damka.
These delegation visits are taking place on the eve of the report on visa liberalisation for Kosovars./Periscopi/
