“Crahas the legal base and full independence to protect the legality on which a contemporary state is developed, from now on our judges and prosecutors will have the most dignified salaries in the region. Of course, this also increases our expectations for increased efficiency in their commitment to literal law enforcement, uncompetitive fight against corruption and organised crime, as well as access to justice and equal for all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo”, has written Tahiri on a Facebook post.
Minister Tahiri says the increase in the salaries of judges and prosecutors should be seen as an investment “towards meeting our citizens' expectations for an efficient, independent and accounting judiciary”.
Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has made a decision to raise wages for the government cabinet. With wages rising for government officials, the salaries of judges and prosecutors are raised.
The decision to raise wages for Government was suspended for a while, and the subject had been submitted for review at the Constitutional Court.
But on June 11th, the Constitution came out with the interpretation that the decision to raise salaries was not unconstitutional.
After publishing the Constitutional Court ruling, Prime Minister Haradinaj has indicated that the increase benefits judges and prosecutors most.
Do you know how small the number of powers benefit from wage increases is? This directly benefits 600 judges and prosecutors. So remember, today they're winners. We too are talking about order and law, we are drafting good laws. Today, the most powerful support has gone to law enforcement institutions, in this case from today 600 judges and prosecutors have higher salaries”, Haradinaj had declared during a government meeting.
