Serbs like every other year, in Gazimestan have celebrated Vidovdan, or as it is otherwise known as Kosovo's “Bette”, which Serbia had lost in front of the Ottoman Empire in 1389. Nationalist actions even this year did not lack.
Participants in the country where the battle had occurred between Serbs and Turks in 1389 were wearing T-shirts with nationalist inscriptions, such as “Kosovo is Serbia”, “Kosovo and Metohija”, “does not betray Kosovo”, and other slogans with hate content.
Also, Serbian citizens, who were from all parts of Kosovo, carried the flags of Serbia, even Greece. They also sang songs dedicated to Vidovdan and Kosovo.
However, the number of Serbs who had come to Gazimestan was small, indicating that the myth about this holiday is fading.
Serbian religious clergy from there called for mobilization to preserve Kosovo. Retired Serbian priest Atanasije Yevtiq told Serbs gathered in Gazimestan, Pristina, that Kosovo has been freed from this battle because they have made resistance in that country.
There are some people in Government who are cowards who have said we should not die for Kosovo, but should die for Kosovo and their children, but their children should not die. If there is a need, we will give our life for the new Kosovo and God willing will be like this”, Jevtic said.
The Serbian clergyman went even further, saying they would fight for Kosovo. According to him, there is even readiness for mobilization in Serbia to preserve Kosovo.
We're not going to turn our heads down, we're not humiliated, but they want to humiliate us... we're going to fight for Kosovo and we're not going to stop, but don't fall for free propaganda. to me as the mitropolis that many believe in Sultan Mqirat and if not in Sultan Mqirat then in Erdogan... we have our braves. I was told by people in Serbia tomorrow to become mobilization, most of us will voluntarily report to Kosovo. May God come that day”, he said.
Serbian citizens who had come to Gazimestan to celebrate Vidovdan expressed their revolt over the lack of freedom of movement in Kosovo.
Petar Pekmezovic from Belgrade stressed that the government of Serbia is doing a lot for Kosovo Serbs, but that according to him it still needs more.
Unfortunately, this is now the situation for our state and government and this is painful... the government is doing a lot for prosperity, but that prosperity must be not partial but complete. Serbia is what it is, the other one cannot be”, he said.
While Bogoljub Janzic from the new Serbian town of Knezevac has called the situation in Kosovo unacceptable.
“has problems especially for Kosovo. There's no free movement. You saw it on every 50 yards there were cops... Serbia has burned 19 countries of the world, which is not in order”, Janjic said.
In Gazimestan to celebrate Vidovdan, the turnout had also warned Serbia's Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin, but the same has been denied entry into Kosovo by Kosovo authorities.
