She commended the two prime ministers for their determination and leadership in reaching the historic agreement.
This success belongs to leaders of both countries and their teams, but primarily to citizens of both countries and Europe. The negotiation process, under the leadership of the UN and the mediation of Nimic and the EU's powerful support, is a clear sign of the power of multilateral diplomacy, dialogue, respect and the will to find solutions where everyone is a winner even for the most difficult issues. Together we must seize the case that opened to consolidate the era of peace and co-operation in the region. The EU's prospects for the Balkans, recently confirmed at the Sofia Summit, remain the greatest power, in the spirit of good neighbourly relations and neighbouring co-operation. We now expect the Council to confirm the findings of the 17 April Progress Report. Not only is it meritive, as recognition of the country's important reforming results, but it will significantly contribute to the full implementation of the agreement in the interest of both countries, the region and the EU as a whole. The EU encouraged and supported these negotiations from the start. We will now support them in future steps with all means and in the same spirit of dialogue for our common European future”, Mogerini communicated.
