Many people are going from Facebook to closed forums like Whatsapp to discuss daily news, as they worry about privacy, false news, and “atmosphere poisoning” on which it is discussed on that platform, shows a study published today by the Reuters Institute for Journalism Studies.
The latest digital news report by the Reuters Institute has shown there is a decline in the use of news through Facebook, especially among young people who prefer to return to WhatsApp, Instagram and Snapchat.
“People are getting a little boring with Facebook,” said lead author of the Nick Newman study for the Reuters Thomson Foundation.
Facebook is still the most popular social news network of 36 percent of users last week, but it loses its preference to other apps, especially WhatsAppit, which has tripled popularity as a source of news for the past four years by 15 percent.
