Eliot Engel, a member of the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, has said Serbia's <x0-> fraud claims of attracting recognitions to Kosovo are completely false.
In a Twitter post, Engel has also said that the Serbian state should give up this policy, as Kosovo's independence is irreversible.
Serbia's “fraudulent claims that countries are turning their backs on Kosovo, are deceptive and are causing great anger around the world. Serbia must stop this and return normalisation with its neighbour. Kosovo's independence and its sovereignty are permanent”, Engel has declared.
Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli has welcomed the support this Committee has given Kosovo.
“We welcome support from the Committee and the State Department in our efforts to fight Serbia's false news propaganda and their failed efforts to block integration into international commissions”, Pacolli wrote on Twitter.
He has called on Belgrade to stop this “courtesy from cavalry” and to remain committed to dialogue “by not abusing it”.
Days earlier, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic presented a document through which he said the state of Liberia has drawn recognition of the independence of the Republic of Kosovo, and published it after the meeting he held with the country's Foreign Minister, Gbezongar Milton Findley.
However, on the same day, the government of Liberia through an official statement to the media “has dismissed reports in several international and social media for revocation of diplomatic relations with the Republic of Kosovo”, Coha.net broadcast.
“... Liberia was one of the first countries to recognise Kosovo's sovereignty on May 30th 2008, after declaring the Declaration of Independence and remains committed to the Joint Declaration on Establishing Diplomatic Relations. The two countries continue to enjoy mutual trust and friendship”, the press release published on Liberia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs official page said.
Kosovo's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that “this statement is a convincing testimony against false news and fierce Serb propaganda against Kosovo, as witnessed with the state of Guinea Bissau, Ghana and other countries”.
