Within the framework of the 11 official parties of the Republic of Kosovo that are defined by one particular law, the Egyptian community is aiming to add another.
Members of this community have already started procedures for involvement in the law on June 24th that would be marked as the memorial celebration of the Egyptian community, KTV reports.
Kosovo Parliament MP Veton Berisha shows that so far such a thing has been prevented, as 2 / 3 of community deputies are required for approval.
Berisha cites the two failed attempts at this request.
The community's Deputy Education Minister, Artan Berisha, says it is unfair that students of the Egyptian community do not have their day for the holiday.
Deputy Chairman of the Commission for the Rights of Communities and Kthim, Xhelal Sveqla, has told him KTV, that a draft has been drafted containing this request, but that is still not known when it will be submitted for approval to the Assembly.
However, Sveqla has said the Egyptian community's request has the parliamentary commission's backing.
On the other hand, the Egyptian community says Kosovo institutions have responsibility towards them, as they too are major contributors to the country's statehood.
