Italy's new interior minister has refused to come to the rescue and has not allowed the landing in his country of over 600 immigrants off Libya's coast.
Minister Matteo Salvin, also deputy prime minister and Lega Nord, has declared it belongs to Malta to dock the ship with immigrants, and allow them to land.
