Thanks to the thermal camera, the driver will be able to see pedestrians, riders and larger animals on the road, at a distance of 10-130m in front of the car.
The use of thermal cameras in the automobile industry is not a innovation. Some, above all, premium producers already use this technology in their vehicles to help drivers in poor visibility conditions, and especially at night, to avoid accidents, Kosovo Press broadcasts.
This technology is also used in self - moving testing machines.
Volkswagen will use the camera for the first time in Touareg, which had the world premiere at the Beijing car fair.
As the system sees this danger during the speed of over 50 km/h, the instrument panel automatically includes a photograph from a thermal camera on which one foot or other objects on the street are recorded.
If the vehicle moves slower than 50 km/h, instead of the camera thermal screen, a visual warning will be activated in the form of a red light on the instrument panel. In case the car is equipped with a head-up screen, that warning appears there as well.
