The Ministry of Internal Affairs has paid the Austrian company OeSD 4m and 950m euros, according to the decision taken by an international arbitrage court.
The MPB Information Office has said the fee MPB had to carry out the Austrian company OsED for producing biometric passports has occurred last year.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has paid all dues to Austrian company OESD last year”, said the MPB response to Kalx.com.
The amount paid under the information office is 4m and 950 thousand euros.
This amount of money has been paid to the Austrian company due to the cut-off of the contract for supply of biometric passports the MPB had with the OeSD company, the deal signed in 2011 and disconnected in 2013.
A few weeks after the passport scandal, the Ministry of Internal Affairs had decided to cancel the contract with Austrian company OeSD.
The YNK newspaper had discovered a range of concessions made by Kosovo institutions that could lead to the loss of millions of euros in international arbitration.
The officials involved in the process have highlighted shortcomings, including the fact that the MPB has not consulted lawyers or jurists when it has made the decision to cut the contract, as well as concessions carried out during contract drafting.
