The man who killed the niece of famous actor Morgan Freeman after stabning him 25 times in front of many witnesses has been acquitted.
Lamar Davenport was charged with killing the second degree in the fatal attack on the 33-year-old Eéna Hines, who was his girlfriend at the time.
The 33-year-old was convicted of murder, however, the defence argued Davenport was under drug influence during the brutal murder.
Hines was killed in August 2015 outside her apartment in NYC.
A man who testified in court of the attack said Davenport shouted while attacking Hines: I love you. I always have. God would have loved that. ”
After being arrested, Davenport was taken to a hospital where after being given a sedative, he woke up screaming: Why did this happen? No, no! Why God?
Hines and Davenport, a rapper, had lived together in an apartment of $780,000 that was bought by the actor Freeman.
Hynes is Morgan's first wife, Jeanette Adair Bradshaw.
Freeman adopted Hynes' mother, Deena Adair when he married Jeanette. He played the role of a surrogacy father who raised Adair after her parents divorced when she was alone, three years old.
