Albania's Assembly, under the National Day of Orphans, with the special care of Parliament Speaker Gramoz Ruci and in co-operation with the National Institute of Integration of Albanian Orphans, hosted 200 children orphans from Albania and Kosovo today at the plenary sessions hall.
Attending the event were Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Vasilika Hyss, deputies of Albania's Parliament, who are also members of the “Children's group”, as well as many prominent figures of public life from art, science, religious communities, television and music.
Orphaned children simulated a plenary session, where, through talks given, they skillfully presented their demands for more solidarity, as a special layer deserving of assistance, attention, and special care from society and responsible state structures. Children from various cities of Albania and Kosovo brought to the folk of the Parliament the emotions felt by Kosovo's war orphans, parents falling in charge, to accidents near the workplace, etc. The fatherless children delivered strong messages to a more solid society toward orphans through words in the Parliament's folk.
Vasilika Hysi, in closing the event, held a welcoming word, while the session with the orphan children she described as one of the most exciting to be directed.
“Along Thursday we have made sessions, where we have passed good laws, such as the Law “for Social Housing”, which made my colleague most of his soul, Mrs. Eglantine Gjermeni. When she was Minister of the Ministry of Urban Development, in previous governance, she lobbied a lot so that children orphaned, mothers and children, single persons, and many other categories, such as Roma, Egyptian, etc., would be principal in social housing. But along with good laws, as is the law on children's rights and their protection, we have made barren debates, where we have hurt you, have harmed you, and have not been able to offer what is needed. This hearing, this hall, this speaker, is often a witness to pathetic debates. While you've all discussed a special ethics and we've stuck to the core of session”, he addressed the children, reports Koha.net.
After pledging her speech for more efforts by politics to help the orphan children, surrounded by emotion conveyed during the simulation of the children's plenary hearing, Hyss shared a personal sense and experience with those present:
I follow the problems, the worries of orphan children, not just because I run a human rights commission, but I was raised by two parents, who have grown up orphans since the first days of their lives. My two parents were raised orphans, and my uncles were raised in the baby's home. Two grandparents who were raised in the baby's home, and I did not know my grandparents”, the deputy head of the Parliament said.
It invited orphan children to be present at a plenary session with the presence of all Albanian Assembly deputies to be heard in all their problems.
On behalf of Albania's Parliament Speaker, Mr. Gramoz Ruchi, you are invited to corroborate what the first two initiatives would be, which we should take and successfully finalise in this period and it would be good for on the occasion of the June 1st festival one of these initiatives to finalise”, Deputy Mayor Hys said in her address.
In closing the event, Ilir Cuman expressed his thanks, on behalf of the children and the institution leading, to the care of Albania's Parliament in the prosperity of this event.
