KDI: Celebrate 1 May by reporting corruption at the workplace

The Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) says discrimination in competitions, no payment and pension contributions, job exemptions for no reason, job degradation, lack of efficiency in judging labor-related issues, public competition as opportunities for party employment, etc., are problems that concern all capable citizens [...]
According to this institute, despite the fact that the Civil Service Law or Law has presupposed criteria for how and when layoffs can be made, landing, suspension, or even job admission, often employers, private sector or public sector, do not respect relevant laws.
Delay of courts in resolving and handling issues of different natures, says KDI has also put off workers' issues that require realisation of their rights.
The Kosovo Democratic Institute, as part of Transparency International, has accepted complaints from many citizens all along about labour rights violations by the state administration or even private companies. To date, more than 50 job rights cases have been accepted and addressed.
Besides, KDI has conducted a research with civil servants employed in judicial, prosecutorial and rule-of-law institutions (trials, prosecutors, police, correctional service etc). More than half of the participants think the rule of law sector continues to remain dysfunctional, while highly politicised employment and promotion procedures and promotion. Even more disturbing is the fact that civil servants have very little knowledge about mechanisms in which they have to report such cases, the investigation proves.
KDI requires public institutions to respect the rights in the public competition and the rights that come out of the labour contracts. They also called on the prosecution to investigate as many cases of unsuitable employment as possible and contrary to the principles of equality of the parties.
All citizens at work are invited, both in the public and in the private sector, to present themselves to relevant state institutions using the legal aid KDI offers through the free number of 4,7007777.
