The Israeli Army said on Wednesday that its fighter aircraft and helicopters carried out new night-to-night air strikes against Hamas' positions in the Gaza Strip, while the missile defence system has detected and destroyed missiles targeting Israeli areas near the Palestinian enclaves.
Israel's Protection Forces said the air strikes targeted targets of missile and ammunition production, as well as military and training bases.
Both sides exchanged mortars and air strikes on Tuesday in the biggest outbreak of violence since the 50-day 1995 war.
