The Republic of Kosovo in its launch as a state has immediately had partnership, friendship, support of the Federal Republic of Germany.
This partnership has existed even earlier, but after declaring independence it has been confirmed with recognition and establishing bilateral diplomatic relations, these relations that have developed at the highest level and continue to be functional at good level, respected and trusted today.
So said Republic of Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, at the conference organised by the German Embassy, on the occasion of marking the 10th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Kosovo.
“Germanism is the country that has brought to Kosovo not only donations, political support, in security through the military, but has also brought to Kosovo a sense of confidence in the future perspective, its experiences to what is known and appreciated in Kosovo as such, the German brand, a reliable value”, Prime Minister Haradinaj said, stressing that in Kosovo it is known that relations with Germany raised Kosovo and Kosovo's brand.
Speaking further about Germany's support, Prime Minister Haradinaj said that Kosovo has felt this support through regional processes, such as the Berlin, the WB 6, process that is very significant for Kosovo, because in specific stages a tendency not to engage Kosovo in integration processes has been investigated, given the fact that some non-recognitional countries and other obstacles have resulted.
This process has given us competition that Kosovo remains on the track of European integration, and we are grateful to Germany, Chancellor Merkel for this process that unites us of the Balkans among ourselves, but also keeps us right on the path to the EU that is very important”, Prime Minister Haradinaj said.
Prime Minister Haradinaj also spoke of the Albanian diaspora in Germany, who have strong feelings for Germany, these ties that become stronger and create greater obligation between the two countries.
In this case, Prime Minister Haradinaj called for investment from Germany to Kosovo, stressing that there are two projects that give hope, the Loyola School in Prizren, a German quality of school -- a project worth giving support -- because children who conduct school in this high school are willing to continue their studies in these parameters, or even join the job market with acquired quality.
“The other project that gives hope to us is the military camp, its transformation into an economic camp even for its symbolic, that is, the Bundesehr flag that has been deployed in Prizren, to turn into an economic flag of Germany, economic presence”, Prime Minister Haradinaj said.
Prime Minister Haradinaj said there are not many major German investments in Kosovo, because it is believed there is corruption in Kosovo, that order and law do not function, and investment circumstances are difficult.
This conviction has been established not only in investors in Germany, but also in France and other EU countries, but, as Prime Minister Haradinaj said, in the second decade we have started together, it is worth regaining courage and returning investment opportunities to Kosovo from German companies.
I am deeply convinced that Kosovo is compatible, is competitive with the conditions it offers not only in the region. Our infrastructure enables not only market operation in Kosovo, but also links to regional markets and even to markets in the EU”, Prime Minister Haradinaj said, stressing that the new population in Kosovo has a passion for work, and it is important that Kosovo has unactivated resources.
Even though Kosovo is a European people, however, Prime Minister Haradinaj said we do not want to come to Europe, but to our country and bring German companies to Kosovo.
While talking about visa liberalisation, Prime Minister Haradinaj said it is not for us to come to Europe, but to assure you that the citizens of Kosovo with free movement opportunities are only a partner for your economies, for your peoples and investors.
Participants at this conference were institutional representatives, civil society and other personalities. While a word at this conference was held by Germany's ambassador to Kosovo, Christian Heldt, who thanked the prime minister for continued co-operation, former President Atifete Jahjaga and Ambassador Willfang Ischinger
