Renowned Greek singer Notis Sfakianakis has arrived in Tiranne for Thursday's concert at the Palace of Congress. Given the reactions he has had for this concert, Sfakianakis tells Top Channel that he has never offended Albanians, but the media reportedly manipulated him.

Top Channel: You know you have a lot of fans here?

Notis Sfakianakis: Yeah. I know that there are many Albanians who know and love me and like my songs. As with most Albanians in Greece, I know they hear my songs.

Top Channel: Let's start with Soma Mu, one of your biggest hits. How did this song come to be?

Notis Sfakianakis: I'm so glad you know the song Soma Mu. I guess other people will know. This would make it possible for us to sing the refrain together at the concert. I was in my studio, getting the album “Fifth Open” ready. And with the composers, playing the guitar, we had the idea of creating this song. We immediately realized that this must be the album song. Its sounds were very simple, and we decided directly.

Top Channel: Another song among your most famous is the eagle. How was her story?
Notis Sfakianakis: It was 1994, when this song came out of the same composer again. Other singers and no one had chosen this composition. I realized right away that this was supposed to be my song. And when we did the video in Sologist, what looks like snow is actually salt. That's where I got another pneumonia. Because it was winter and very cold, we ended up at two o'clock in the night. I could not go to Patra to the hospital, but I returned to Athens.

Top Channel: Despite the promotions everyone has in their career, you've always been to Top List in Greece. How did you succeed?
Notis Sfakianakis: Now I'm working on the last three albums, each with seven songs. At any moment I start selecting I have over 1,300 proposals coming to hear. And it's very difficult to choose the right ones. But this is a process of work that has helped me to keep going.

Top Channel: You had a weak moment of your career when you operated your throat. How was that time?

Notis Sfakianakis: In 2004, I've been 18 months away from the public because of my throat surgery. Then came the song “Birthday” My brother always told me, take out this song! After I had missed the stage so long, 10 minutes before I left, I heard the crowd calling my name. In time, I learned that my brother had been diagnosed with cancer.

Top Channel: You are described as a contour, opposition, revolutionary, anticonformist person. Part of your personality or media show?
Notis Sfakianakis: People who do not belong to the mass differ from others. I've been that way since I was a kid. As for politics, I don't think our people are doing their job well, so I've often called on them to tear them down. While the media have often changed my words. The truth is only what I say. I'm the one who sees and hears.

Top Channel: What are you gonna sing at the concert at Congress Palace?
Notis Sfakianakis: I always do what I feel right now. The audience always at my concerts, only knows the first and second songs. The rest is a surprise. That was probably why I was a DJ from 15 to 24 years of age. As I changed my list then, so can I change my songs at the concert. I can tell you, the first song is the last album. Great love. And second is Gypsy Day.

Top Channel: In Albania you have recently been greatly commented on by a statement that is said to have called Albania the specific Albanian inferior race. What about this?
Notis Sfakianakis: Those are words I never said. The media manipulated me. The fact that we're here in Ilir, it says everything. Let us invite the public together to the convention Palace Thursday. I love you so much. I'm waiting for you at Congress Palace.
