Kosovo could be required to change the Constitution to accommodate the final agreement with Serbia.
Koha Ditore sources, close to the ongoing negotiations, have said that the parties have been warned that they could come to the point where it would have to “rewrite the” constitutions, in certain parts.
Kosovo will allow additional competencies and responsibility for the Association of Serb majority municipalities, but in the centre, the double majority for vital importance laws is removed.
Part of the agreement package has also been cited as Kosovo's membership in the UN. Officially in the Government of Kosovo, they have denied such options to be extended, but have declared they are aware that the difficult process with many unknowns awaits them.
For the opposition and representatives of civil society, any compromise that goes beyond the Constitution undermines Kosovo's political and institutional functionality.
