Denmark's Minister for Migration, Inger Stojberg, was sharply criticised after suggesting that Muslims take a break during the month of Ramadan, due to potential security risks to the rest of society, as he said.
Stoyberg, which has the reputation for tough migration policies, said fasting during the day of work raises challenges for modern society.
It cited potential dangers for bus drivers and hospitals.
But the companies were among the first to say they have no problem with Ramadan.
Arriva, who leads several buses in Denmark, said there have never been accidents involving fast - air drivers.
The same message came from the Denmark Transport Union, the 3F, whose leader, Jan Villadsen, asked whether the minister is trying to create a problem that does not exist.
The union of Muslims in Denmark posted a message to the social media, thanking Minister Stojberg for the concern, but added that Muslims are adults capable of taking care of themselves and society even when they fast.
