Cambridge Analytica, Britain's headquarters consultant, said it would close, following allegations that it misused the data of millions of Facebook users to influence US presidential elections in 2016.
“We have decided that it is no longer useful to continue business”, the company said, adding that, soon, bankruptcy procedures in the US and Britain will start.
Cambridge Analytica, a company committed by the current American president's election campaign, Donald Trump, has become the target of the investigation after a former employee found that she has had an illegal access to the data of millions of Facebook users and that she has used them to influence voters in the US.
Cambridge Analytica has denied using this data to help Trump win.
